Our organization is a Secondary school, which is located in the capital city of Latvia-Riga. It has about 500 students. We teach students the subjects that are necessary for further education.
Our teachers have the highest education in their work field. Our location is important in the fields we try to work in, such as natures' protection and saving the sea. We have made a successful partnership with exchange programs previously. We have also participated in a project called "Miksike'', where students come tour school and teach other students, so that they practice before they start to work as teachers.
Our school has got many subjects, for example Physics, Biology, Math, German, English, Russian and of course Latvian. Weal so have a very interesting subject - drama class. In drama we have to play many etudes so we could know how it is to stand out and speak to a larger audience. This is very important because it will be very useful in the future, because many students are really shy and are afraid to speak in public. Our school council organizes many fun activities, like “are you smarter than a fifth grader”, different sport activities, school proms (for Christmas, Valentine’s Day and for Halloween). In our school we also care about our students’ health, giving them healthy snacks, so they won’t have to buy junk food instead.
In our school we have modern technology, because in every class we have projectors, modern personal computers and interactive boards. We also teach students how to make websites and other important programs that they might need in the future. We also have a project week, where all the classes create their own unique project and then present it in front of the whole school. Some students create a project about healthy living others about best places in Latvia. We also have a museum in our school. It is the oldest school museum in Latvia. We cherish our most important school things in our museum and it has been going on like for many decades. We also have had many exchange students from Thailand, Germany, and Turkey.
